Centro de Partos de San Cristobal

Casa de Partos de San Cristobal Luna Maya is one of 13 private birthing centers in Mexico run by midwives. With this project, Luna Maya is developing guidelines and standards to enable existing and future private sector birthing centers to open and operate effectively, in accordance with national laws and health regulations, to serve low-income women. The project is oriented by experiences in other countries where birthing centers provide quality maternal and reproductive health services, as well as Mexican regulations and context. Training and technical assistance for opening and strengthening a network of birthing centers is provided to an initial group of individuals interested in opening or strengthening birthing centers, as well as to a pilot group of centers.
