This three-year grant of $300,000 awarded to Center for Human Rights, a human rights organization based in Moscow and established in October 2013 on the initiative of the Moscow Helsinki Group, is in support of a project to promote public accountability of the criminal justice system. The project will develop independent monitoring of police and the courts in five Russian regions, publicize results, raise awareness, and identify needed improvements. Foundation dollars will be used primarily for staff salaries, travel, accommodation, conferences, translation, and office expenses. The grant will advance the Foundation’s strategic priorities for Russia by improving access to justice.
