This award strengthens and expands information infrastructure used by millions of people and non-profit organizations worldwide, and supports tens of thousands of foundations in their efforts to be more transparent and effective.

This project analyzes the full set of 100&Change applications and maps the funding systems relevant to them. The project connects 100&Change participants to other resources, reflects the commitment of the 100&Change program to a fair, open, and transparent process, and is a key component the program's marketing efforts.
The Foundation Center (the Center) is a central source for comprehensive information on institutional philanthropy in the United States. It provides information on foundations, corporate giving, evaluation, and related subjects to grantmakers, grantseekers, researchers, policymakers, journalists and the general public through its libraries, publications and online services. This grant provides general support for the Center, a source of information about fundraising relied upon by grantseekers and grantmakers alike. It also provides project support for IssueLab, a project to collect and share grant products such as evaluations, research reports, case studies, issue briefs, toolkits, conference reports, and datasets and other items produced with support by foundations and other donors.
This project will report on the activities that foundations and their grantees are undertaking to strengthen American democracy and the U.S. political system. It will be conducted as a partnership of the Rita Allen Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the Democracy Fund, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, the Open Society Foundations, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. It will answer questions such as: Who are the key funders and what issues are they focused on? Who are the key grantees? Outside of foundations, who are other important funders in each issue area? How can better funder coordination or collaboration best be facilitated? The Foundation Center will develop answers to these questions by issue area, funder, grantee, and geographic area. A data visualization tool that shows relationships between funders, grantees, issues, and geographic areas will accompany the final report of the project.
