Washington, D.C.

Grants

2024 (2 years)
$300,000

The Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth (CFSY) leads a national movement to catalyze the just and equitable treatment of children in the United States by demanding a ban on life without parole and other extreme sentences for children who cause harm; advancing alternative responses that focus on the needs of victims and the unique characteristics of children, including their capacity for positive change; and creating opportunities for formerly incarcerated youth to thrive as adults and lead in their communities.

2014 (2 years)
$250,000

In support of general operations as the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth continues to work to eliminate the practice of sentencing youth to juvenile life without parole and other extreme sentences.

2011 (2 years)
$200,000

The Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth supports a network of state-based reform advocates, litigators, families, and allied organizations dedicated bringing an end to life without parole sentencing and other extreme sentences for juveniles. The grant will enable the Campaign to expand its coalition membership and enhance its coordination to protect the progress made by the 2012 Supreme Court decision Miller v. Alabama, which banned mandatory life without parole sentences for juveniles, and support activities to advance other reforms that promote more developmentally-appropriate responses to youth who violate the law.
