$500,000

Founded in 2006, Black Parent Initiative (BPI) is a culture-specific and community-centered organization that co-designs and collaborates with Black communities. Its work creates innovative and culturally relevant interventions and opportunities that help Black communities thrive. BPI works to repair the damage from chattel slavery and residual wounds from generations of racism, discrimination, and abuse. BPI also utilizes workshops, trainings, and symposiums that empower and heal Black communities to prevent further intergenerational transfer of trauma. This award provides general operating support to the organization.
