BirdsRussia, Russian Society for Conservation and Study of Birds

The grant to the Russian Society for the Study and Protection of Birds (BirdsRussia) will support strategic research and coordination work aimed at protecting flagship Arctic bird species on their wintering grounds in East and South East Asia. Survival of this species is essential for sustainability of the key Arctic ecosystems. The grantee will seek to synergize the resources and policies of the Russian, Chinese and other Asian governments as well as NGOs and the expert community for the sake of preserving Arctic birds on the East Asian flyway. In order to mitigate the threats faced by Arctic birds on their migratory routes, the grantee will develop an action plan and advance it both by grassroots work and through engagement with international multilateral bodies.
