Members of the Kaiji network develop and advance individual and shared research projects that seek to provide new insights and thinking in academia, the media, in policy arenas and beyond. The award provides flexible support to Kaiji.
Coalition for Independent Technology Research
A project of Aspiration Tech, the Coalition for Independent Technology Research (CITR) works to advance, defend and sustain independent research into the impacts of technology on society. Its overarching vision is to foster a vibrant field of public interest researchers who conduct their work free from the influence of both governments and the technology industry. It has three broad areas of programming: (1) crisis response, which seeks to address the increasing threats faced by researchers that can compromise their ability to conduct independent research; (2) advocacy, which focuses on issues that many researchers currently pursue in addition to conducting research, such as access to data; and (3) strategic communications, which focuses on efforts to amplify the voices of independent researchers and highlight the significance of their work. The award provides flexible support to CITR.
