Established in 2011, Arewa Research and Development Project (ARDP) is a Nigerian nonprofit committed to promoting social justice and sustainable development through empirical research, legislative advocacy, service delivery, and publications. A previous Foundation award to ARDP enabled investigative reports published by media and journalism grantees to be translated and amplified in local languages. This supported community groups in demanding accountability from public officials, and several abandoned projects were completed as a result. With this renewal award, ARDP is collaborating with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and other government anti-corruption agencies to monitor constituency projects in Borno and Zamfara states. It is advocating for the adoption and implementation of Open Government Partnership principles and whistleblower policies in Borno and Zamfara states to empower citizens to fight corruption. Finally, it is translating and amplifying investigative reports published by the media and journalism cohort into Hausa and Kanuri languages to mobilize diverse community groups to demand accountability. This project is implemented in collaboration with Foundation grantees, particularly Joinbodi grantees focusing on constituency projects. The award contributes to On Nigeria's goal of reducing corruption and strengthening accountability, transparency, and participation.

Arewa Research and Development Project (ARDP) is a civil society organization founded in 2011 to promote social justice and sustainable development through empirical research, legislative advocacy, service delivery, and publications. ARDP is promoting accountability by amplifying investigative news reports produced by the Foundation’s media and journalism grantees, and organizing communities to actively participate in the campaign against corruption. ARDP translates investigative reports into local languages; develops infographics and data visualizations; mobilizes civil society and community-based organizations to demand accountability; advocates to policymakers to act on the reports; and disseminates investigative reports among citizens groups and associations. The project is implemented in partnership with the Foundation's On Nigeria partners and contributes to laying a foundation for a new atmosphere of accountability, transparency, and good governance in Nigeria.
