SpiritHouse

SpiritHouse Inc, which is fiscally sponsored by Alternate Roots, is a Black women-led organization that uses culture, art, and media to support the transformation and building of power in communities most impacted by poverty, racism, gender inequity, criminalization, and mass incarceration. SpiritHouse’s work falls into two major categories – the first is focused on educating, organizing, and building accountability related to the police and the criminal justice system; the second is focused on healing through cultural practice and rituals. The award provides flexible support to SpiritHouse at a time of high demand for its healing and justice work.
