The African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL) promotes media and information literacy to strengthen democracy, good governance, accountability, and orderly society in Nigeria. With this award, AFRICMIL supports the Joinbodi cohort of the On Nigeria Program in enhancing its knowledge of artificial intelligence applications. The training strengthens the Joinbodi cohort members’ skills to understand and apply artificial intelligence in civil society activities, organizational development, transparency, and accountability.
The African Centre for Media & Information Literacy (AFRICMIL) is a non-governmental organization that uses media, information, research, advocacy, and training to strengthen democracy, good governance, and accountability in Nigeria. AFRICMIL is supporting reforms to institutionalize the whistleblower policy in Nigeria and introduce it in West Africa to protect whistleblowers and reduce corruption. It is partnering with Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies to educate Nigerians on whistleblowing and strengthen transparency and accountability in public revenue agencies. It is collaborating with West African partners to encourage reforms across the region. It is also establishing a resource hub. The project contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption and strengthening accountability, transparency, and participation.
The African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AfricMIL) promotes media and information literacy to strengthen democracy, good governance, accountability, and orderly society in Nigeria. AfricMIL is supporting reforms to institutionalize the whistleblower policy, mainstream it in Nigeria’s public and private sectors, and protect whistleblowers. It is partnering with Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, and the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, to educate Nigerians on whistleblowing and strengthen transparency and accountability in constituency projects and public revenue agencies. The project contributes to On Nigeria’s goal of reducing corruption and strengthening accountability, transparency, and participation.
Established in 2011, the African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AfricMIL) is a Nigerian nonprofit that promotes media and information literacy to enhance democracy, accountability, and good governance. With this award, AfricMIL is building public confidence in, and promoting implementation of, the 2016 whistleblower guideline in Nigeria. AfricMIL is organizing dialogues and training for staff unions and officials to promote support for whistleblowing in federal revenue generating agencies. The project is expected to popularize the whistleblowing guideline, thus contributing to a new atmosphere of accountability, transparency, and good governance in Nigeria.
