African American Leadership and Policy Institute

Founded in 2017, the African-American Leadership and Policy Institute (AALPI) is a nonprofit organization that seeks to produce and curate policy research and analysis for engaging the broader public. AALPI presents a series of “civic debates” to engage Chicago residents and subject-matter experts on critical policy issues facing Chicago. The series, which launched in February 2021 with a two-day symposium led by national and local leaders on reparations, also includes programs on community public safety. This award supports the convenings, research, and promotional costs of the series.
