826CHI

826CHI is a non-profit writing and tutoring center dedicated to supporting students aged 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Serving more than 3,500 Chicago students from low-income neighborhoods and under-resourced or under-performing schools, 826CHI's mission is achieved through one-on-one after-school tutoring and writing sessions, field trips, in-school projects and tuition-free workshops. 826CHI will use the 2014 Holiday Award to support its infrastructure through an additional part-time staff member, codification and sharing of programming, database transition, and improved metrics to assess program impact.
