Wounds We Carry follows the journey of a group of Cambodian Americans as they travel back to Cambodia to observe the trials of former Khmer Rouge leaders, tell their stories before the Cambodian Tribunal, and seek some form of justice. The group includes four elderly genocide survivors, Cambodian-born advocate and scholar Dr. Leakhena Nou, and director Michael Siv, himself the child of Cambodian genocide survivors. In Cambodia they encounter the son of a convicted perpetrator of the genocide, who unexpectedly joins their search for truth.
