Angels are Made of Light is an observational documentary that profiles the lives of students and teachers at a public school in Kabul over three years at the end of U.S. military involvement in Afghanistan. The film uses interviews and observational cinema to tell the story of a community of students, parents and teachers, touching on universal themes related to family and child rearing, as well as issues particular to the school and its location in a country still reeling from war.
