Helping to increase social and economic opportunities for low-income Chicagoans, MacArthur supports the New Communities Program, comprehensive community revitalization in 16 Chicago neighborhoods, efforts to reduce violence and increase the impact of new information and more sophisticated analysis to improve governance, as well as ways to strengthen the infrastructure of the field of community development nationally.

Digital Media & Learning
MacArthur is exploring how digital media are changing the way young people learn, play, socialize, and participate in civic life. The goal is to make education more powerful for all students by creating more opportunities for more youth to engage in learning that is relevant to their lives and prepares them for success in school, the workplace, and their community.

Juvenile Justice
MacArthur supports juvenile justice reform across the country through its the Models for Change initiative, and the National Campaign for State Policy Reform, which aims aim to accelerate a national juvenile justice reform movement to improve the lives of young people in trouble with the law, while enhancing public safety and holding young offenders accountable for their actions.
