Yamini Mishra

Yamini works as the Director of MacArthur Foundation’s India office.

Prior to this, Yamini was the Regional Director for Amnesty International’s South Asia Regional Office (and held additional charge for East, Southeast Asia, and Pacific Regional Office for some periods). She also served as the Programme Director of Amnesty International’s Global Issues Programme.

Yamini has worked with UN Women as their Asia Pacific Gender Budgeting and Financing Specialist. She was also the Executive Director for the Centre for Budget and Governance Accountability, a policy think tank in India.

Yamini has a bachelors and master’s degree in economics from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi, and Delhi School of Economics, respectively. She has also studied at the Institute of Rural Management, Anand for post-graduation.

Yamini was a member of the Advisory Group for UN Secretary General’s High-Level Panel on Financing for Gender Equality, 2019-20. She is on the board of Tax Justice Network UK, the Centre for Democracy and Social Action and Centre for Studies in Disability and Law, National Law University, Delhi. She is also a member of the Policy Advisory Group, Women’s Budget Group. She was the Queen’s International Scholar in 2017 with the Queen’s University, Canada. She has supported and guided the work of UN Women Nepal as the Senior Feminist Economist.
