Punit is responsible for all financial matters of the MacArthur Foundation and its affiliate organizations. This includes financial management of all aspects of budgeting, accounting, compliance, tax, and auditing. In addition, he partners with senior leadership to establish organizational strategy and evaluate progress against strategic goals.
Prior to joining MacArthur in 2024, Punit was Vice President of Finance at Candid since 2020. In this capacity, he was responsible for maintaining the financial health and stability of the organization, providing strategic direction on organization-wide budgeting process, and assisting in establishing policies and practices to fulfill Candid’s mission. Prior to this, he was Director of Finance at The Helmsley Charitable Trust for five years, where he established the financial planning and analysis function to generate efficiencies in the organization’s grant making and operating expense planning process. Before a career pivot to the philanthropic and social sector, he gained progressive and diverse experience in financial management roles with multi-national corporations. From 2004 to 2014, he held positions with increasing responsibility managing the strategic finance function at Colgate-Palmolive, Weight Watchers, and Ocean Spray. Earlier in his career, he worked at PepsiCo and Polaroid.
He completed the Executive Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania, earned his MBA from PennWest Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and received a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Delhi, India.
Punit has served as a board member and treasurer for various organizations, including New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON), Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce, Massachusetts Asian Pacific Islanders for Health, and is an active member of the Financial Executives Networking Group (FENG) and Foundation Financial Officers Group (FFOG).
