Claire joined MacArthur Foundation in 2018. Previously, she worked on the Social Science Initiative at Conservation International studying changes to protected areas globally. As a graduate student, Claire served as the African Drylands Research Lab Project Manager overseeing research on changes to community resource access due to transitions in land tenure outside protected areas in southwestern Kenya. She also spent time working as a GIS analyst for a small environmental consulting firm in Madison, WI and as a field researcher conducting ecological surveys on the island of Bioko, Equatorial Guinea for the Bioko Biodiversity Protection Program.
Claire holds a master’s degree in Natural Resources and Environment from the University of Michigan, and a bachelor of arts in Geography and Environmental Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
